Frequent Questions
There are some questions that we and our retailers are asked commonly by our customers. That's why we've prepared the top-ten questions and answers for you.
1. Must I get a permit to install a pool on my property?
There is no European-wide regulation for private swimming pools. In Germany, the building laws vary among the different states. For example, it is important to know the maximum permissible pool volume (in m³). Your retailer will be happy to inform you of the local regulations.
2. Can I assemble my unipool swimming pool by myself?
Generally yes. Using the information in the instruction manual (see also “Downloads”), you can see for yourself how difficult self-assembly of the pool will be. Your unipool retailer will be happy to answer any questions you have.
3. Do I have to replace the pool water annually?
No, if you use the appropriate water maintenance equipment. However, if you don't use the pool during the winter, you should drain the water until the level is below the plastic components.
4. In addition to the pool itself, what do I need?
You can decide individually what accessories you need for your pool. Please take into account that some accessories require pre-installed fixtures, like electric cables for spotlights that you might want to add later. Of course, your unipool retailer will be happy to help you with any questions you have.
5. I bought a pool from a different manufacturer, but have discovered that they don't offer the accessories that I want. Can I buy unipool accessories for this pool?
Of course! Your unipool retailer can advise you about the different options you have in choosing from our large range of accessories.
6. What about water maintenance chemicals and their effect on persons with allergies?
Your unipool retailer has a unipool water maintenance guide available, and can give you additional detailed advice on this topic.
7. How long does the guarantee on the pool run?
Because of our product's high quality, we offer a 10-year manufacturer's guarantee on rust of the metal parts, and rotting on the wall components of the Recypool. This guarantee is in addition to the legal guarantee.
8. Are the swimming pool membranes treated to prevent discharge of toxic substances?
Yes, unipool membranes are made in Germany and do not discharge toxic substances even after years of use. The EPQG guarantee seal on every membrane confirms this quality. Your unipool retailer can show you the relevant analysis certificates issued by various independent institutes.
9. What are the operation and maintenance costs of my unipool?
The operation and maintenance costs of your unipool depend on its size, on the usage rate, and some other factors. There are many ways to reduce costs: An air/water/heat pump keeps the water at a comfortable temperature while using only one-fifth of the energy that a conventional electric boiler needs. You can also reduce electricity costs by using solar power.
10. Do I need the pool cover during the summer?
We recommend always covering the pool when it is not in use for longer periods of time, even in the summer. A solar membrane is particularly convenient for this purpose.
There are four good reasons for keeping the pool covered:
- The pool water stays about 3-4°C warmer.
- The chemical usage is reduced by up to 50%.
- The pool stays cleaner.
- Safety is increased.
